I entered formal art education a few years ago as a mature student but have always been a creative person. My inspiration comes from a variety
of sources. It may be a dilapidated building or object I’ve discovered or a place that’s deteriorated through time and neglect. I find the textures,
patterns and layers of decaying matter especially interesting. There is also an attraction in opposites for me whether it's light/dark, old/new or
past/present. I find the contrast intriguing and enjoy playing around with this in my work. I don't like limiting my practice to one particular area, as
the actor Anthony Rapp once said “labels are for cans, not people” . Experimenting with different materials, trying out new ways of working, and
letting chance play a part have become important to me. The combination of 3D pieces with 2D work has also become a feature in my work, this
can be either found objects or pieces I have constructed which are relevant to the context .
